The feed doesn’t contain any antibiotics or GMO products and the entire chain is traceable in all stages.
Production is performed in recirculation systems with use of clean water that recycles twice an hour. During this cycle it goes through advanced filtration systems: these break down waste products in harmless components. This approach to fish farming has a low impact on the environment.
Because of this, farmed pikeperch is the only pikeperch on the green list of WWF. This means it is a good choice. There is no standard for pikeperch in ASC/MSC but our way of production with a healthy fish stock and low environmental impact is seen as a sustainable way of fishfarming.
Farmed pikeperch in “VISwijzer”
“VIS wijzer” gives advice which fish is best to eat and which fish it is better to avoid concerning sustainability. An international assessment team yearly judges a whole list of farmed and wildly caught fish. “VISwijzer” is an initiative of Good Fish Foundation, WNF and Stichting De Noordzee.
Good Fish Foundation’s assessment team has judged that pikeperch farmed in recirculating systems is a year-round good choice and the best choice on the European market.
